Singgah di sebuah warung nanas di tepi jalan Riau, di antara kendaraan yang melintas dan senyum sang penjual.
A motorbike passes in front of the stall. Behind it, pineapples hang beneath a corrugated roof, with more fruit piled close to the road. It is an ordinary roadside scene in Riau, but one worth stopping for.
The fruit catches my eye first. Rows of spiky crowns fill the shaded stall, framed by timber supports and a worn red counter. Then the seller turns towards the camera and smiles. That small exchange becomes the part of the stop I want to remember.
Customers can take a whole pineapple away or have it prepared at the stall. In the clip, the seller works with the fruit at her counter. The road stays close, with passing traffic just beyond the edge of her workplace.
These brief encounters are part of what I enjoy photographing in Indonesia. A stall, a person and a few moments of conversation give a place more character than a passing view from a vehicle ever could.
This short film is a little record of that stop: the pineapples, the roadside setting and the woman who brings the scene to life.
